❄ WINTER WELLNESS ❄

SHINRIN YOKU
森林 浴
"FOREST BATHING"

SHINRIN YOKU is Japanese practice, also known as forest bathing. It is a wellness ritual about immersing yourself in the healing atmosphere of nature. This is similar to a mindful walking meditation. The practice was developed in Japan and has since been embraced around the world for its restorative benefits.

"intentional time in the forest can transform both mind and body".

Shinrin Yoku reduces stress by lowering cortisol levels. It improves mental health and brings in clarity. It boosts immunity, improves sleep, and enhances creativity and focus.

As time slows down for winter, you may want to incorperate Shinrin Yoku as a part of your daily practice. Winter is a time for healing, welcoming grace, and introspection. Sometines staying cooped up can create a stagnant atomosphere. If you feel this way, you may want to try this practice. This practice may be done in all seasons but since winter is here..allow yourself to welcome something different into your winter practice, especially if you tend to stay indoors.

Always make sure you are taking your safety into consideration by wearing proper winter clothing, letting someone know where you are walking or hiking to (especially if not in your yard), and taking some warm water or tea with you in a thermos. If it's unbearable for you, please head back to your safe space indoors. Make sure your safety is priority.

This moment with your S E L F should feel like a intimate moment with the earth. To connect and be one alongside one another. Try not to force anything or control your time outside. Just walk, breathe, and observe. Feel the beauty that surrounds you - the same one that lives within you.
